The Greater Boston United for Justice with Peace coalition (UJP) was formed after 9/11/01, in an effort to advocate for alternatives to military responses. The UJP coalition currently consists of 25 peace and justice organizations along with 50 community groups, of which Cambridge United for Justice with Peace is one.
Justice depends on recognition of the dignity and rights of all individuals and groups as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the well-being of society depends on economic and social equity and a binding system of supra-national understandings.
World peace will be achieved only when individual nations understand that their self-interest lies in the common interest and fate of all nations. Peace must be a shared responsibility with no one political entity imposing its preferred structures, religious beliefs or societal norms on others.
There is no peace without justice, domestic and international.
